It’s a new year – full of new year promise – and new year promises. Did you make any resolutions? We’re a month into the new year. Are you still keeping those resolutions (if you made any)? Maybe you’ve decided to discard or modify a resolution – or not make any at all. You can make your own rules, you know. There are no “resolution police”.
This year I decided NOT to make any resolutions. Safer. More chance of success. Seemed sensible.
Now it’s February and what am I doing????? I’m thinking of making a resolution – or two. There is consistency in my inconsistency.
My first resolution (and really… isn’t that enough for one day???) is to be more consistent (there’s that word again) with this website for the year 2017 (a pretty broad promise). We may close a shop or two (or open a shop or two – who knows) and we may evolve a little, but I hope to maintain the site a little better this year. Is there anything special you’d like to see?
Thanks for sticking around. Hopefully, we can find out together where this goes.
Have a hopeful 2017!
“There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.”
~ Bernard Williams ~
“Everything that is done in the world is done by hope.” ~ Martin Luther
“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all.
~ Emily Dickinson ~
I’m thinking today about hope and looking hard to find it. Some days, being hopeful comes easily. Some days, it takes more work. But easy or hard… every day… I hang my hat on hope.
How’s your hope today?
This is currently one of my favorite leathers – soft – beautiful – and a great size. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a way yet, for online shoppers to see this leather close up and feel the texture through their computer screen or phone (or tablet). If I could figure that out, I wouldn’t be able to keep it in stock. Everyone would have one in every color! Just sayin’. ♥
Someone posted this on Facebook and I wanted to share it with you.
These are not exactly the cheeriest lyrics, but the music and the performance were more than enough to make me smile. Sometimes life is tough. Take a music break with me… and smile.
“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife.”
~ Kahlil Gibran ~
The heat index here today in Wilmington, DE is 100+ degrees. I don’t even want the curtains open because looking at the sun makes me hot. I just want to close those curtains and hide!
Some people go out to eat in this weather because it’s too hot to cook. I cook because it’s too hot to go out. I can’t breathe out there.
Too hot to cook? Maybe I’m thinking about the 1960’s when air-conditioning wasn’t what it is today (if you were fortunate enough to have air-conditioning at all). We had one window air-conditioner in the living room – that was it for the whole house. And my father wouldn’t let us run it just any time. HE got to decide. Imagine! (I hear women can even vote now.)
I remember my mother coming home from work… putting on her bathing suit and hopping into the shower to cool off before she started dinner – soaking wet. We were rugged back in the olden days – or I should say SHE was rugged. I was always a wimpy whiner. She cooked. I sat in front of the fan.
I guess there were some take-out places – even then, but there weren’t nearly as many as there are today. We had McDonalds, Gino’s (does anyone remember Gino’s), or pizza. That was about it. Take-out was not an acceptable dinner at our house.
ANYWAY… Fortunately (thanks to the talents of my son, Greg), I have a brand new studio in the basement which is very coooooooool! I think it’s partly because of the whole “cold air sinks” thing. Sometimes I just love science.
It is still a work in progress, but that’s what it looks like so far. Maybe in my next post I’ll post some pictures of the whole basement to warehouse renovation.
And what was I making in this beautiful studio today? I was making a custom bangle for a woman who wanted these bracelets as gifts. Super cute! If you have something special that you’d like to have, let me know. I’d love to make it for you.
I hope you have a happy place where you can duck this heat! (Unless you love it… then… yay you!)
“What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance.”

2013 was a productive and “growing” year for us!
We opened our Awareness Shop in July and ended with over $3,500 in sales for 2013 – which meant contributions of over $700 from the Awareness Shop alone. Those sales, along with the Awareness sales from Thunder Moon Gallery, allowed us to contribute a total of $1,249.82 in 2013 to organizations who support the people represented by our Awareness jewelry sales.
In 2014 we’re hoping to increase sales and contributions. It is our goal to love and support those who are wading through rough waters – to honor loved ones who have passed – to celebrate with those who have become Survivors .
Thanks to all of your who supported us and the people we’ve come to love. Please continue to support them with your prayers and positive energy and thoughts. You can find a list of our Awareness friends on our “People Page“.
We are hoping for a happy, healthy 2014 for all of us!
Do you have a hard time finding exactly what you’re looking for? Here are a couple of tips on how to use two of the tools that Etsy gives us.
1. Search box:
2. Sort by:
You can find both tools on every shop page, below the shop’s banner and welcome message – and above the actual listings. The “search box” is on the left side. “Sort by” is on the same line as the search box, on the right side of the page.
1. Search Box
Are you looking for a specific color? Do you want a “wrap” bracelet? How about a specific type of leather (for example: 10mm flat, 5mm flat, 5mm round)? Are you looking for a Regaliz® leather bracelet? Do you want a magnetic clasp? All of that can be found by using the search box.
Just type what you’re looking for in the search box and click on “Search”.
If you’d like a red bracelet, type “red”. If you’re looking for a wrap bracelet, type “wrap”. Do you want a magnetic clasp? Type “magnetic clasp”. Easy breezy!
If you’re having trouble, try being less specific. For example, if you can’t find what you’re looking for by typing: “Black 10mm flat double strand wrap bracelet”, try less words. For example, type “black” or “wrap” or “flat” or “10mm”. That will narrow the results closer to what you’re looking for.
2. Sort by:
There are 4 choices for “sort” options:
1. The first choice (and default choice) is “custom“. Next to the word “custom” are two icons – one is for “gallery” view” and one is for “list” view. Unless you change the choice, the shop will display in “gallery” view (which, of course, is prettier).
2. The 2nd choice is “most recent“. If you visit the shop regularly, you might just want to look at the new things. “Mos recent” will put the listings in order from the most recent to the oldest.
3. The 3rd choice is “lowest price“. This option will sort the listings from lowest price to highest price so that you can look in a specific price range if you’d like.
4. The 4th choice is “highest price“. This option will sort the listings from highest price to lowest price so that you can look in a specific price range if you’d like.
